FARE BARE: freedom starts with the toes
FARE BARE combines an anatomically shaped toe box, a thin and flexible sole, low weight and an insole without arch support. The heel is not raised above the forefoot – this is called zero drop. Fit and size matter too: shoes that are too long or too wide can get in the way when walking.
At FARE, we develop and manufacture shoes in Valašské Klobouky. We have focused on barefoot footwear since 2018. Our range includes slippers, sandals, everyday shoes and winter styles. Choose according to where your child will wear them and the weather.
Get to know FARE →Room for toes
The anatomical toe box follows the shape of the foot. Compare both shoe length and width with your child’s measurements.
A thin, flexible sole
The sole bends with each step and lets the foot feel the ground beneath it.
No raised heel
Zero drop means the heel is at the same level as the forefoot.
From indoor play to snowy days
Kids’ barefoot shoes for all their adventures

For nursery and school
Choose lightweight indoor shoes with room for toes. They should stay securely on the foot and be easy for your child to fasten. Our range includes hook-and-loop and elasticated styles.

For spring and autumn
Choose from FARE BARE everyday shoes for spring and autumn. A membrane is useful for rain and wet grass. Check individual styles for materials and available sizes.

How to choose the right size
The same size number can mean different internal measurements in different models. Always check the measurements for your chosen size on the product page.
See how to measure- Measure both feet while standing.Use the longer measurement and compare the width too.
- Allow the recommended extra room.Compare foot length plus the allowance with the shoe’s internal length. Try shoes on with the socks your child will wear in them.
- Let your child walk in the shoes. They should not slip, pinch or change the way your child walks. If you are unsure, our shop staff can help.
Know which FARE range you are choosing
| Range | What to expect | Explore |
|---|---|---|
| FARE BARE | Barefoot footwear with an anatomical toe box, a thin flexible sole, zero drop and no arch support. | Shop the range above |
| FARE MID-WIDE | A compromise barefoot range: more space than classic footwear, bridging classic and barefoot construction. | More about the ranges |
| FARE FIRST | First shoes for little ones, with a focus on comfort, stability and room for toes. | First shoes |
| FARE KLASIK | Classic footwear designed for a secure fit, flexibility where the toes bend and cushioning. A firm heel counter plays an important role in closed shoes and closed-heel sandals. | Features of classic footwear (in Czech) |
How the fit differs
FARE BARE: the difference between A and B
The B range is slightly narrower around the toes than the A range, with more height above the toes and over the instep. It is therefore not a wider version of A. Other features remain the same, with small differences in length.
Compare the internal measurements of the particular model with your child’s feet. A and B describe different fits within FARE BARE, not the difference between barefoot and classic shoes.

What the FARE-TEX membrane does
FARE-TEX is a thin layer between the upper material and the lining. It keeps outside water out while allowing water vapour to escape. It is 0.2 mm thick and has a water column rating of up to 30,000 mm. These specifications describe the FARE-TEX membrane, not every FARE BARE shoe.
Use the With a membrane filter to find suitable shoes. Check the materials and lining of each pair: a membrane protects against water but does not replace insulation.

Before you order
Questions parents ask
What are barefoot shoes for kids?
Lightweight shoes with an anatomical toe box, a thin flexible sole, no raised heel and no arch support. At FARE, these features are offered by the FARE BARE range. It also matters how well the particular model fits your child.
How do I choose the right size?
Measure both feet while your child is standing and use the larger foot as your guide. Compare length and width with the internal measurements of the particular model and allow the recommended room in front of the toes. The size number alone is not enough. Check that the shoes stay on securely when walking and that the toes have room.
Are FARE barefoot shoes waterproof?
Yes, the range includes waterproof barefoot models with a membrane. FARE-TEX keeps water out while letting water vapour escape. Not every FARE BARE model has a membrane, so use the With a membrane filter and check the product description. Waterproofing treatments protect the upper; they do not replace a membrane.
Which barefoot shoes should I choose for winter?
Choose lined FARE BARE winter shoes, with a membrane for wet snow. Compare materials and lining on the product page and try the shoes on with the socks your child will wear. The words snow boots or ankle boots alone do not tell you whether a shoe has barefoot construction.
Are FARE MID-WIDE and FARE FIRST the same as FARE BARE?
FARE BARE is our barefoot range. We describe FARE MID-WIDE as a compromise barefoot range: it offers more space than classic footwear and bridges the two constructions. FARE FIRST are first shoes for little ones, focusing on comfort, stability and room for toes. This page offers FARE BARE models.
How is the range sorted?
The default order is based on pairs ordered during the last 30 completed calendar days in the Czech FARE online shop. It is recalculated once a day and excludes cancelled orders and outlet purchases. Only models and sizes currently in stock are shown. Ties are resolved by stock quantity. Check the product page for the current price and availability of your chosen size.
