FARE FIRST winter first shoes keep feet warm in the pram and protect them during the first independent steps outdoors. In sizes 19–23, check toe and sock room, low weight and a secure fit.

Winter first shoes
Winter first shoes serve two different situations: the foot of a child who spends most of the time sitting in a pram, and the foot of a toddler already walking independently on cold pavement or snow. Choose insulation and durability accordingly.
Parents also use terms such as baby booties, soft shoes, shoes for babies, toddler shoes or first walking shoes. Not every soft bootie is an outdoor shoe: the right choice depends on whether the child is sitting in a pram, pulling up indoors or already walking independently outside.
Allow for the sock that will be worn, but do not automatically buy winter shoes several sizes larger. Compressed toes may become cold, while an overly loose shoe reduces stability. Measure the foot in the sock the child will actually wear.
Insulated footwear is often more substantial. For a beginning walker, check weight and flexibility especially carefully. Treat the upper regularly; water-repellent spray helps but does not replace a membrane or rubber footwear in deep wet conditions.
FARE FIRST is based on barefoot construction: generous toe room, zero drop, low weight and high flexibility. A barefoot model is not suitable merely because of the label on the box. It must match the shape of the individual foot and hold securely over the instep and heel.
Small feet can grow in spurts, so check the size regularly. Do not automatically buy shoes several sizes larger “for later”. Too much space can reduce a beginning walker’s stability, while a short or narrow shoe restricts the toes.
