The world of footwear is constantly changing. New materials, new technologies and new perspectives on what proper footwear should look like continue to emerge. Alongside barefoot models, minimalist constructions and wider fits, however, there is still a place for classic footwear – and for many types of feet, it remains a relevant choice today.
This is exactly what FARE KLASIK is built on. A traditional construction that has been part of our production for decades and continues to evolve together with new materials, technologies and the experience we have gained at FARE over the years.
The history of FARE began in Valašské Klobouky in 1991, when our own children’s footwear programme was established, later followed by models for other age groups. For many years, classic shoe construction formed the foundation of our development and production.
Over more than 35 years, materials, outsoles, production methods and customer expectations have all changed. Yet our experience with classic footwear remains one of the key foundations we continue to build on today.
When we introduced barefoot footwear in 2018, it did not mean the end of classic shoes. Quite the opposite. Over time, we gradually created a broader range of different constructions, because one thing became increasingly clear to us: Every foot is different.
FARE KLASIK represents a more traditional footwear construction with a narrower toe shape and a firmer outsole compared with barefoot models. In children’s footwear, you will also find a firmer heel counter, which helps keep the heel better positioned inside the shoe.
This type of construction may suit children and adults with narrower feet, a narrower heel, or those who simply prefer a more structured and secure feel when walking.
However, the label KLASIK, BARE or MID-WIDE is not the most important factor on its own. What matters most is always whether the particular shoe matches the shape of the particular foot.
Our understanding of footwear has changed significantly in recent decades. Today, we know that choosing the right shoe is about much more than just the size number.
Important factors include:
Research into children’s footwear also shows that different shoe constructions can influence movement in different ways. Outsole flexibility, stiffness and the overall shape of the shoe can affect walking biomechanics. This means that no single type of footwear can automatically be considered ideal for everyone.
For young children, greater emphasis is generally placed on lightweight construction and flexibility. As children grow, however, the anatomy of the foot, movement demands and the environments in which they move also change.
That is why it makes sense to choose footwear according to the actual foot and the way the shoe will be used, rather than according to a trend alone.
FARE KLASIK can be a suitable choice, for example, for a child or adult with a narrower foot, for someone who does not feel comfortable in a wider barefoot fit, or for those who prefer a firmer and more structured feel when walking.
A firmer construction can also be practical in situations where greater protection from the surrounding environment or a more secure fit of the foot is expected from the shoe.
This does not mean, however, that a shoe should be unnecessarily stiff or restrict the foot. Classic footwear should still fit well, must not cause pressure and should allow comfortable walking.
Today, the FARE range is no longer based on just one type of footwear.
Alongside FARE KLASIK, we also offer the MID-WIDE brand, which represents a construction positioned between traditional and barefoot footwear, as well as FARE BARE, with an anatomically wider toe box, zero drop and a highly flexible outsole.
For first steps, we have also created the dedicated FARE FIRST collection.
These constructions are not competing against each other. Each one is designed for a different type of foot and different individual requirements.
The development of footwear has brought us many new insights over the past decades. But one thing remains unchanged: the shoe must suit the person who wears it.
If your child has a narrower foot and a classic fit suits them well, there is no reason to choose a wider shoe simply because it is currently popular. In the same way, there is no reason to stay with a classic construction if the foot needs more space.
That is why we produce several types of footwear at FARE.
From the proven FARE KLASIK, through MID-WIDE, to barefoot models. So you do not have to choose according to one general rule, but can instead find a shoe that truly matches the shape and needs of your foot.
Because choosing the right footwear does not begin with the name of a collection. It begins with the foot that will wear it.
